Hi there! I'm Savannah, a digital communications strategist and project manager. I specialize in crafting content for niche audiences. Drawing from my expertise in French and German culture, I tailor content for audiences in regions like the United States, Germany, and French Canada. I have spearheaded many creative projects, like a transatlantic podcast series and a zine about the power of mistakes, showcasing my passion for storytelling. I thrive on the challenge of framing messaging to penetrate the desired audience, and my portfolio illustrates that I am good at precisely this — since 2020, I have led four major online publications with over 1,000,000 total visits.

In the past seven years, I've built my career at international organizations, honing my skills in strategic communications, public relations, marketing, and project management. I also hold a Master's in Mass Communication with a specialization in PR from the University of Florida — recently ranked the best public university in the U.S. by The Wall Street Journal. Currently, I work as a social media specialist at the German Embassy in Washington, D.C.

RECENT PROJECTS

GEGENÜBER

2023-2024

Gegenüber, a Goethe-Institut magazine from North America, bridges the Atlantic divide by featuring perspectives from Germany and North America. Our diverse team and contributors from Canada, Mexico, Germany, and the United States present multimedia content covering societal issues, art, business, and science. Gegenüber delves into transatlantic topics, explores German-American nuances, and emphasizes cultural similarities. As the lead editor, I oversaw the creation, commissioning, curation, editing, and SEO of the magazine's content. For more, visit www.goethe.de/gegenuber.

SLOW BURN

2022-2023

Since beginning my career, I have struggled to find the bandwidth to enjoy reading like I used to — especially as a slow reader. So, I started a podcast to get back to my reading roots. In each episode of Slow Burn, I speak with a reading expert about easy reading recommendations for slow readers like me. "GIVE US OUR HUSBANDS BACK": CIVIL RESISTANCE IN NAZI-ERA BERLIN

2023

In 1943, hundreds of non-Jewish women defied the Nazi regime, risking their lives to demand the release of their Jewish husbands from Gestapo custody. This act showcased how ordinary individuals can become heroes. In honor of the protest's 80th anniversary, this exhibit and collection of articles pays tribute to the courageous women of Rosenstrasse. As the lead editor, I managed the opening event and created content for the exhibit and the website, consulting with historians and drawing from archival material. I worked closely with various stakeholders, managing relationships. I also conducted several interviews with survivors for the project. Read more at www.goethe.de/usa/rosenstrasse.

STILLSTAND

2022

STILLSTAND is a collaboration between colleagues in Germany, India, Canada, Cuba, and the United States. Together with authors, artists, and partners, this international team filled a magazine with personal essays, anecdotes, photography, short films, and music that pay homage to stillness and its poetic beauty. As lead editor, I edited the English-language version of the website, oversaw the editorial plan, coordinated internal and external communications, and created digital ads. I also contributed several articles to the zine. Enter the void at www.goethe.de/standstill.

THE BIG PONDER

2018–2022

THE BIG PONDER is a German-American podcast featuring personal radio essays that explore diverse topics, from diners to the Berlin Wall. I served as lead editor, responsible for website administration, developing brand identity, media relations with podcasters and radio stations, writing copy for communications materials, commissioning episodes, providing editorial direction to producers, and maintaining the editorial plan. Since its debut in 2018, the series has amassed over 200,000 listens! Tune in at www.goethe.de/bigponder or wherever you get your podcasts.

FEHLER

2020–2021

FEHLER is a digital zine celebrating mistakes. This collection of articles, anecdotes, infographics, and podcasts showcases mishaps — big and small — from around the world. As lead editor, I edited the English-language version of the website, contributed articles, managed the team editorial plan, adjusted content for use on social media and other digital platforms, and coordinated internal and external communications. Since the website launched in June 2020, it has received over 350,000 visits. “The Mandela Effect,” one of the articles I commissioned for the magazine, has received over 225,000 visits, making it one of the Goethe-Institut’s most successful articles of all time.
